Sally B. Denyes died surrounded by her loving family Monday, January 28, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Sally was born in Goldsboro, NC to the late Claude Franklin and Eugenia Lockhart Bizzell. At the age of eight, after her father's death, she and her mother moved to Raleigh, NC where she attended public schools before graduating from Needham Broughton High School. She made her debut in 1948 at the Terpsichorean Ball in Raleigh, NC and later attended St. Mary's College in Raleigh, NC and Brenau University in Gainesville, GA where she was an active member of Alpha Delta Phi Sorority. On September 22, 1951 she married Wells Denyes. The two were very active members in their churches including Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport, TN, Trinity United Methodist Church in Alexandria, VA, and Skidaway Island United Methodist Church in Savannah, GA. She was also active in the Junior League in Kingsport, Washington DC, and Savannah.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-six years, Wells Denyes of Savannah; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Khris Denyes of Bradenton, FL; one daughter and son-in-law, Sally Lynn and John Palatiello of Reston, VA; three grandchildren, Nicholas and Michael Palatiello and Jennifer Denyes.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008 at Skidaway Island United Methodist Church with Reverend James W. Giddens officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Skidaway Island United Methodist Church Building Fund, 54 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, Georgia 31411 or Hospice Savannah on Eisenhower, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, Georgia 31416.
